SHORE IS GREAT "5650" provided a picturesque view of the east arm, walking trail in the preserve. Quality living, sleeping and facilities. The dryer had some issues that were immediately addressed by delivering a new set of linens and towels. We requested dryer repairs to be addressed after our leaving. Great vacation.. Will do it again

If there was a way to give ZERO STARS, I would. The communication with Visit Up North was terrible leading up to my vacation. I had to call to confirm my reservation and all the details. On top of the extremely poor communication, I was also nickel and dimed by them. They charged me an additional $50 for moving a picnic table 30 feet and stated they had to charge me. I would never recommend this rental agency to anyone and would suggest using VBRO or other for your northern Michigan vacations!

My Family, along with another, wanted to get out of town for the 4th of July weekend. After much searching for a place last minute, we were excited to find a few properties on vistupnorth.com that were still available in our price range. The website stated that there was a 2-night minimum which wasn't an issue because we could only stay from Friday, July 3 to Sunday, July 5th anyhow. So, on Tuesday, June 30th I booked the "Brookhaven 3" rental property online. I sent emails to the family members and started preparation for our vacation. The online reservation process was simple. I searched the dates we needed, found the rental properties and reserved the "Brookhaven 3" property all online as the system allowed. Their site took my personal information, credit card and sent me an email confirmation. I have a computer screen shot of the website availability / terms to show how it appeared when I booked my reservation in addition to my email confirmation. Today, July 1st, I get a phone call from an associate at Visit Up North indicating that she could not fulfill my reservation for 2-nights and that the "Brookhaven" properties are a 3-night minimum. I was extremely frustrated as I told her the site stated 2-night and the reservation went through successfully. She asked if we could stay 3-nights, which we couldn't do because work schedules. I told her that this was the vacation of 2 families they are canceling on who were already preparing for the trip and have no other available places to stay. I also told her that they were advertising and booking reservations based on terms that were not advertised. After much debate, she said she'd call the owner of the property to see if they would allow it. She called back 5 minutes later to let me know that this was their busiest weekend due to the Cherry Festival and that the owners would only to 3-nights or more. As a result, they are canceling our reservation. I alerted her that I would reach out to different channels to NOT recommend doing business their company and what they have done was extremely incorrect. I first went to BBB to file a complaint and while there, I noticed 3 other complaints. One complaint I thought was interesting which stated that the company removed his negative of their online properties. The company responded and said they have the right to. So, BEWARE THE REVIEWS ARE FILTERED and NOT ACCURATE! If I could, I would give this company ZERO stars I would as it seems their business practices are shady. And, as of this writing, haven't received an email cancellation! I should probably check my Credit Card statement.

This place is absolute garbage. We come in about 4:15 when our check in time is between 4-6, we come in and the place is still a mess! Next thing we see, is the people meant to clean the house speeding down the hill. They demand that we leave, so they can clean. They also leave an envelope to give them a tip, which we will not give. Another one of my complaints is that they left very few towels, and when we needed more we called, but of course no one answered the phone or came. Another complaint was the shower. It smelled like garbage, and after awhile the shower would just turn cold. Lastly, if you plan on staying here bring lots of garbage bags, the ones they give you fill up after a couple of items. Overall, I do not think we will be coming back here ever again.

Do not rent with them! A group of friends and I stayed at two cottages on Long Lake. The cottages were great and very nice for a group of people. As the listing states, each cottage holds 10-12 people. We had 12 people in each cottage and the neighbor called the police, called Up North Vacation Rentals and reported that we had over 50 people staying with us and 20 cars. We had 10 cars between both houses. We were on the back deck using the fire pit when the police came. Someone was playing guitar and they told us politely to quiet down, which we did. The neighbor proceeded to repeatedly call the police and yell at us through her window. The police came back multiple times, but told us there was nothing for them to do because we were being quiet. But they had to respond to the neighbor's calls. Up North Vacation Rentals proceeded to charge our credit card $550 (unauthorized)! They sent us an email stating that they did this because of what the neighbor said. And because we had "excessive trash" because we filled up the garbage can. We also had "excessive septic tank usage". Apparently, they check the septic levels and calculate how much should be added per person, yeah right. So basically, just by one neighbor's continuous complaints, Visit Up North decided to add some unauthorized charges to a customer's credit card. Great business practice. No proof, no documentation, just the word of an uptight neighbor. The address was 8269 S Outer Dr on Long Lake. We would've had a great experience had it not been for the uptight neighbor and how Visit Up North responded.

I would give this company zero stars if it was an option! What a joke and complete abuse of power. Some of my girlfriends and I stayed at a cute little cottage in Sutton's Bay for a relaxing girls weekend. We planned to grill (but the grill was filthy with no propane), hang out by the fire pit (no fire wood available, bring your own), and do some wine tasting at local wineries. Our trip was great minus the grill - and the fact that the dish washer was broken (we washed what we could by hand so we didn't leave anything in the sink). We left on Sunday thinking all was well. I personally did a once over, walking through all the rooms in the house making sure everything was cleaned up and we weren't leaving anything behind. My friend had left her credit card in case of any damages, and they wanted to charge her $150 for throw up in the bathroom, a messy house that took 2 hours to clean, too much garbage in the garage, and missing wine glasses. NONE of this is true. No one threw up as no one drank that amount of alcohol, the house was as clean when we left it as it was when we found it, all our garbage was left in garbage bags (since the house sleeps 10 and we had 10, how was there too much garbage?) and all their wine glasses were either washed by hand and put away or put into the broken dish washer that we couldn't start. My friend argued this and they ended up charging $50 anyways. This company is a scam and a rip off. After reading the horrible reviews that came before mine, I definitely wish my group had read these reviews before our rental. I highly recommend you do NOT stay here - you will be ripped off.
